Ray and Trudy Hales have generously set up the Neuse River FA College Scholarship Program for the purpose of providing (1) one current NRFA boy and (1) one current NRFA girl a $500 one-time scholarship for their upcoming freshman years at either a college/university or other post-secondary educational institution.

The players receiving these awards will have demonstrated years of commitment to Neuse River FA soccer, their community, and their schools. They will have grown into good, upstanding young adults and Mr. and Mrs. Hales wish to acknowledge the years of time and hard work they have each dedicated to furthering their educational careers.

Thank you in advance to the young men and women that will apply, and potentially receive, the Neuse River FA College Scholarship(s). You all have made the Neuse River FA community proud.

Thank You!

Last year, Johnston United Soccer Association was pleased to announce the creation of the JUSA College Scholarship Fund.  The Hales Family created and funded the scholarship as a means to reward players who have demonstrated years of commitment to JUSA soccer, their community, and their schools and who now turn a page to the next chapter of their lives as they look to further their educational careers.

The Hales Family would like to continue this endeavor this year with Neuse River FA.  One boy and one girl will each be awarded a $500 college scholarship as they graduate in the spring.  For the club, this is a fantastic opportunity to say thank you to young adults who’ve spent their youth playing career with our club, and we can’t be prouder of the support from this family.

The Hales Family wanted to say a special congratulations to the first-ever recipient of the JUSA College Scholarship, Mr. Dillon Parker.  Dillon is currently wrapping up his freshman year at ECU and hopefully, the scholarship helped with some of his expenses.

Dillon was the perfect selection for this scholarship as he represents so many of the soccer and personal traits we strive for all of our players to achieve.  He started in recreation with the club 14 years ago and wrapped up his career this last spring on the 99 JUSA United Red team.

As a four year player at Corinth Holders High School, in the 3A Two Rivers Conference, Dillon was named All-Conference twice, All-County, All-Region, All-State, Conference Offensive MVP, Team Offensive MVP, and JUSA’s Mr. Soccer Award recipient.  His last season alone, he recorded 11 goals and 19 assists to lead the Pirates with 41 points while leading the conference in assists. Dillon’s play was outstanding and led to a selection to represent the East in the NCCA East-West All-Star game.  The highlight of his competitive youth soccer career occurred when he played on the Region III team in the 2016 ODP National Championships in Arizona. Overall, that’s quite an impressive resume.

Off the field, Dillon started “Kicks for a Cause” which takes donated soccer cleats and distributes them to players that are less fortunate.  He’s also been a very busy referee for JUSA for the past 4 years.

In the classroom, Dillon worked hard to graduate from Corinth Holders with honors.  We trust that his collegiate successes will be just as numerous.

JUSA and the Hales Family were very honored to have Dillon Parker represent our club as the very first recipient of the JUSA College Scholarship.  Well done, Dillon!
